JUDGEMENT in the murder case of Tapiwa Makore has been set for Thursday 29 June 2023 amid expectations that the heinous crime perpetrators will be finally sentenced.

Two of the four suspects initially presented for trial were acquitted last yearat the close of the prosecution case after the prosecution withdrew the charges against them for lack of incriminating evidence, leaving the other two with a case to answer.

The duo who undertook the actual killing,Tafadzwa Shamba and Tapiwa Makore Snr, were placed on their defence after the court established there was overwhelming evidence against them.

But last year, evidence in Chief Shamba insisted he was tortured by the investigating officers to sign a warned and cautioned statement, which he argued was prepared by the police.

He also insisted that the confessions and indications he made at the crime scene were done out of fear of police brutality.

But he conceded during cross- examinations by prosecutor that he apologized to the deceased’s family.

According to the suspected killers , the boy was drugged and mutilated so they could sell his body parts to a witch doctor for US$1 500.

The family faced continued grief after enduring over six months withoutb laying his body to rest after delaying burial anticipating to find his body.

Unfortunately, the head was never found , resulting in the burial of a headless body.
