FIFA President Infantino Hails Munhumutapa Challenge Cup Launch

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has extended his congratulations to His Excellency, Cde Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.
He also saluted the ZIFA President Mr Nqobile Magwizi following the official launch of the ZIFA Munhumutapa Challenge Cup.
His message recognises the significance of this landmark national initiative and its potential to strengthen football development across Zimbabwe, from grassroots to elite, while creating opportunity for communities, young people and the wider game.
The Munhumutapa Challenge Cup is a groundbreaking US$25 million national football knockout tournament officially launched on March 4, 2026, by President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the Celebration Centre in Harare.
Each year, US$5 million will be allocated to the competition, making it the richest cup in Zimbabwe’s history. It features more than 1,000 teams, including:Men’s and women’s top-flight leagues,Lower divisions and Area Zone clubs and grassroots and elite-level registered teams.
