CCC highest decision-making organ convenes as protests calls get louder

By Staff Writer

CITIZENS Coalition for Change (CCC) highest decision-making organ is set to convene Wednesday to chat the way forward on the back of a raft of problems bedeviling the main opposition party.

The opposition political party has endured very tough developments due to elected candidates recalls by one Sengezo Tshabangu who surfaced from the wilderness to claim the position of CCC interim Secretary General.

A bid to get the recalled candidates to contest in the by- elections held last week hit a snag after the High Court ruled against their candidature.

The sad developments coming shortly after disputed elections have left the opposition party bruised with party supporters calling on the leadership to resort to mass protests.

Over the weekend the CCC exiled national spokesperson, Promise Mkhwananzi warned that demonstrations may be the only way out.

“We have done everything possible to comply with the law in terms of the formation and design of our party, there is no single illegality in our processes,” said Mkhwananzi.

“We have continued to give the courts an opportunity to demonstrate their impartiality and professionalism, and this is such an opportunity.

“There are many other options that are available to us which we have just parked because we are following certain processes and strategies that I am not at liberty to disclose at this point,” he said.

In a gesture to deliberate on the next plan of action, the CCC political party this week announced that the highest decision-making organ, Citizens National Assembly (CNA) will convene to map the way forward.

“The Citizens National Assembly (CNA), as the highest decision-making body of our Movement held its 20th extra ordinary meeting to discuss and resolve urgently the challenges that confront us. Today we will address the nation in the political direction we’re taking,” said the party in a statement.
