THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has blocked the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) political party from hold a rally for the second time in one week.
This week, ZRP barred the political party from holding another rally which was penciled to take place in Chiredzi on the basis that there was an official opening of Rusununguko Clinic in Chiredzi by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Masvingo Province where all the resources are focused.
In a second bid , CCC decided to change the venue and submitted yet another application wishing to convene the rally at Chivi Growth Point in Masvingo.
But in response, Officer Commanding Masvingo West District, R. Maingire, turned down the request ,proceeding further to withdraw CCC’s rights to hold their rally at the venue of their first preference.
“We acknowledge receipt of your notification dated July 2 2023.We also appreciate appreciate that your letter meets all the required expectations.
“Let me take this opportunity to highlight that Chivi Growth Point was booked by Zanu-pf and we are in receipt of that letter dated July 1 2023.
“By changing your venue from Mhandamabwe to Chivi Growth Point, you ceded your rights to use Mhandamagwe as your venue on the strength of this notification.Kindly be advised that permission has therefore not been granted,” the letter said.
The opposition political party was further advised that if they wish to hold any rallies in future at Mhandamabwe or Chivi Growth Point they have to submit another notification.
