Hardrock Stage Sensational Comeback to Tighten Grip on Castle Lager Premiership Title

By Sports Reporter

Hardrock pulled off a remarkable 3-2 comeback against MWOS at Chawanda, moving eight points clear at the top of the Castle Lager Premiership and seizing full control of their title destiny.

MWOS struck first, with Arthur Banda finding the net in the ninth minute. Nigel Makumbe doubled their lead in the 57th minute after a defensive error by Hardrock. But the league leaders fought back with style and determination.

Gerald Takwara ignited the revival, capitalizing on a rebound to make it 2-1. The momentum shifted in the 75th minute when Thubelihle Mavuso finished off a brilliant move orchestrated by Washington Navaya, leveling the scores. The dramatic turnaround was sealed by Munashe Bamara, whose spectacular goal completed one of Hardrock’s greatest comebacks.

Coach Kelvin Kaindu praised his team’s resilience:

“We have worked very, very hard for us to come and lose it when it really matters, and they haven’t disappointed. We came back strong.”

With just two games left—against Simba Bhora and FC Platinum—Hardrock are now on the brink of clinching the title, needing only to hold their nerve.

Scottland, in second place and last season’s champions, sit eight points adrift with two games in hand. Even if they win both, they will still trail by two, relying on Hardrock to slip up.

Yesterday’s win marked Hardrock’s ninth consecutive league victory. This season, they have remained unbeaten in any match where they’ve scored at least two goals—a testament to their consistency and fighting spirit.

MWOS coach Lloyd Mutasa admitted his side failed to manage their early advantage, stating,

“We let go a game we thought we could have taken three points from, but such is football.”

As the final whistle approaches on the season, Hardrock’s comeback could very well become the defining moment that secures their place in club history.
