Arrest VP Chiwenga’s Speechwriter!” — Zanu PF Trending Social Media Activist Walter Mutize Sparks Fury Over 2030 Succession

An explosive political rift has erupted within the ruling ZANU-PF after trending social media activist Walter Mutize publicly demanded the immediate arrest of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s speechwriter, accusing the second-in-command’s team of undermining President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s developmental record amid escalating 2030 succession battles.

In a video statement that has gone viral across social media platforms, Mutize launched a direct attack on the speech delivered by Vice President Chiwenga during a recent gathering in Chinhoyi, Mashonaland West Province. The activist claimed the address intentionally ignored the Second Republic’s economic strides and distorted the country’s trajectory.

The fiery comments have ignited intense friction within ZANU-PF, where factions continue to clash over the party’s future leadership ahead of the upcoming political cycles.

Mutize declared in the video that the person who wrote Vice President Chiwenga’s Chinhoyi speech must be arrested immediately. He argued that the address failed to acknowledge major national achievements under President Mnangagwa’s leadership, alleging that the speechwriter crafted a narrative designed to diminish the President’s authority.

Addressing the fierce speculation surrounding the 2030 succession debate, Mutize dismissed claims from political critics asserting that the current administration has failed. He emphasized that President Mnangagwa has not declared any intention or plan to extend his tenure beyond his constitutional limits, urging party loyalists to reject premature succession rivalries.

To defend the administration’s performance, Mutize pointed to several key socio-economic sector turnarounds under Mnangagwa’s presidency. He argued that public trust in financial institutions has been restored, enabling citizens to deposit funds without the fear and uncertainty that marked previous economic crises.

He also highlighted that chronic fuel shortages, exorbitant prices, and persistent petrol queues have been resolved, describing the current fuel supply as stable and accessible nationwide. Furthermore, he cited ongoing nationwide infrastructure fixes and policy adjustments implemented since Mnangagwa assumed office as proof of tangible governance progress.

Mutize’s public attack on the Vice President’s office has drawn sharp reaction online and within political circles, highlighting deepening fissures within ZANU-PF as senior leaders and activist networks push competing narratives over party succession. Neither the Office of the Vice President nor senior ZANU-PF leadership has issued an official statement responding to Mutize’s demands for the arrest of Chiwenga’s speechwriter.
