THE Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has mourned the death of Montrose Girls High School headmistress Mrs Sekai Chikavanga, who died in a road traffic accident in Bulawayo on Saturday.
In a condolence message, the Ministry described Mrs Chikavanga as an exceptional leader, dedicated educationist and energetic administrator whose contribution to the education sector would be remembered.
The Ministry said her death was a major loss to her family, colleagues, learners and the wider education fraternity.
“It is with profound shock and deep sorrow that the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has learnt of the untimely passing of Mrs Sekai Chikavanga, the Head of Montrose High School,” the Ministry said.
It extended its condolences to the Chikavanga family, staff and learners at Montrose Girls High School, the Bulawayo Province education fraternity and the broader education sector.
The Ministry said Mrs Chikavanga served with passion, commitment and a deep sense of duty, while also highlighting her contribution to the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Exhibition,
where she was involved in showcasing the Ministry’s work.
“Her energy, organisational skills and national platform were truly outstanding and an inspiration to many.
“We have lost a gallant leader whose contribution to quality education will remain etched in our memory forever,” reads the Ministry statement.
The Ministry said Mrs Chikavanga’s legacy would continue to inspire those she served.
