THE Zanu-PF Mashonaland West provincial chairperson, Mary Mliswa has broken the record after mobilizing 45 000 letters in support of the Constitutional Amendment Bill # 3.
The initiative received Ministerial Confirmation recently when Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi publicly saluted the Mashonaland West province, confirming it supplied the highest number of written submissions to Parliament.
“In terms of consultations ,Mashonaland West you made us proud .You provided the highest number of written submissions that were recieed and your public hearings were very good ,” he said.
According to reports, Provincial Chairperson Mary Mliswa directed party officials and local leaders to generate thousands of letters. District executives were tasked with 50 to 100 copies each, while Members of Parliament were ordered to supply a minimum of 5,000 copies.
Opposition lawmakers and civil rights groups have actively pushed back against the bill. Critics allege that the public hearings and overwhelming number of “pro-government” submissions were the result of organized intimidation.
The Constitutional Amendment Bill seeks to alter electoral cycles and extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s stay in power beyond his constitutionally mandated two terms.
