ZINARA hailed for partnering VID in vehicles and equipment procurement

TRANSPORT and Infrastructure Development Minister, Felix Mhona Friday commended the Zimbabwe National Road Administration for partnering the VID for the procurement of vehicles and equipment as part of efforts to ease road carnage.
Road carnage in Zimbabwe is a critical issue with thousands of deaths and injuries annually, largely due to human error like speeding and drunk driving, coupled with poor road infrastructure and vehicle maintenance.

Minister Mhona, one of the few officials who has managed to go beyond the limitations in addressing the country’s legacy roads problems reflected on ZINARA’s gesture as a factor to ease the problems on the roads.
“Let me extend my heartfelt thanks to ZINARA who partnered VID for the procurement of the vehicles and equipment we are commissioning today. Your collaboration reminds us that progress in the transport sector is a shared responsibility.In addition to the strides we are making in technological integration, I am pleased to highlight another critical development on our collaborative efforts,” he said.
At the historic event, Mhona commissioned vehicles, brake roller testers for the Vehicle Inspection Department and the handover of Breathlysers to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).
ZINARA is a is a state entity responsible for managing the country’s road network through the collection and disbursement of road user charges. It continues to work tirelessly to ensure the maintenance anddevelopment of Zimbabwe’s road network, disbursing funds to various road authorities for repairs and upgrades.
