THE Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) has vowed to press ahead with its transformative journey into the New Year in a move set to further spur achievements made so far.

Since 2017 when a new management boar was ushered in , the roads authority has managed to turn the corner after departing from the legacy of bad corporate governance marred by endless corruption allegations, poor financial records and weak management systems.

To date, the entity has steadily become a new brand of reckon after a sustained record of good corporate governance practices drawing cross cutting envy from former critics.

Presenting the latest  Annual Report recently, ZINARA said  they are still far from calling it a day in pursuit of the transformative agenda which is set to spill over into the new year.

“ZINARA is still on its transformation journey, whose trajectory has created pleasing milestones that cut across the spectrum of Corporate Governance and mandate performance areas.

“ The strides achieved in the war against corruption, leveraging on technology, as well as achievements in funds disbursements under ERRP2, have been achieved despite buffeting and ever shifting economic fundamentals over the previous periods,” said the entity in the report.

The Administration said the introduction of the new ZiG currency by the monetary authorities in 2024 is expected to curb the erstwhile currency volatility in the economy and further assist the organisation in its financial and operational plans by bringing stability and certainty.

“ZINARA’s ICEA themed strategy under the ‘Automate pillar’, of embracing digital transformation across all value chain points of the organization including Road Authorities through E-disbursement, is expected to ensure seamless flow of information and eradication of efficiency deficiencies, gaps, improve ease of doing business while eradicating revenue leakages,” the report said in part.

The roads authority added  the implementation of smart detective and deterrent technologies such as CCTV at revenue centers will be taken a gear up to rid the organization of the culture of fraudulent tendencies and revenue leakages at tollgates and other revenue collection points.
