ZEC endorses Vladmir Putin’s re-election for the 5th term

THE Justice Priscilla Chigumba led Zimbabwe Elections Observer mission to the Russian Federation just ended polls has endorsed the entire process describing it as largely free and fair.
The ZEC said the polls passed the litmus test of observing the Article 21 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which gives the power power to decide the fate of their nation’s future.
“There was a clear sign of mature democracy in which elections are not percieved as a life and death activity.
“There is evidence of objective reporting of the activities by the local media that was observed .Our mission is impressed by the steps that the CEC took to ensure that all eligible voters are given an opportunity to exercise their right to vote,” said Justice Chigumba.
She saluted the Russian Federation for convening the polls in a relaxed and cheerful environment where citizens exercised their right to vote saying this is a clear sign of a mature democracy.
“Polling stations opened at 8am and closed at 8pm for the three days of election.
“While the ballot paper did not have photos of the candidates every polling station had a poster introducing the candidates.Additionally polling stations had posters of regulations and the conduct of voters and observers,” added Justice Chigumba.
